It's time for planning again ;)

Jan 30 - Feb 13   InnSuites and many other shows... The starting date will probably be a week before the official one ;) "Arizona Mineral & Fossil Show / InnSuites" -> http://www.mzexpos.com/arizona.htm

Feb  5-8    Westward Look...  http://www.westwardminerals.com/  (high end and great fun)
The famous evening program will be on the 7th

Feb 11-14 TGMS main show... http://www.tgms.org/ -> http://www.tgms.org/2010show.htm

(listing of almost all the shows and the EZ-guide to get you around http://xpopress.com/gem-mineral-fossil.html) (click for a Google map with all the shows and dates)

Anyone going from Strahlen.org?

Without Gail no TGMS ;) , so she'll be there, probably, I suppose, I think, well, stop... I'm sure actually....

I just woke up in USA-timezone... damn jetlag...

Jordi about the beautiful (but way overpriced) new cuprite from Russia from the Rubsovskoye Mine
http://www.mineral-forum.com/message-board/viewtopic.php?t=460&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=20

and Jolyon rented a chopper and flew to the Grand Reef mine http://www.mindat.org/loc-3332.html and Table Mountain http://www.mindat.org/loc-23638.html
driving to the first mine is not allowed as the landowner does not want people to cross his land to the mine.
So... what's more easy than to chopper in then ;-) Drive to the airport, hire a chopper for a day, pay, fly...

please don't forget to register for ESTA online http://www.cbp.gov/xp/cgov/home.xml
at least 3 days before flying into the U.S.A.... new regulations starting mid january 2009 !
without electronic approval, no entry into the States...
(my travel agency did not know this yet)

Cheers!
ps, the ESTA site does not work in all browsers...

Does anyone here has interesting tips for mineral localities to visit around Tucson?
There were a lot... but most are recultivated/closed/mined-out by specimen miners etc ;-)
Any tips are appreciated !

Cheers!

Some little warning before going to Tucson:

Coming to Tucson in 2009? Beware of detours

For the year and a half, the Tucson, AZ. I-10 (Intertstate-10) freeway entrances and exits are still closed from 1-19 to Prince Road. This causes an inconvenience to unaware dealers and visitors, and even those prepared to handle the great divide.

The Interstate-10 (I-10) freeway exits at Congress are also still closed. The entire project may not end until just before or after the 2010 Tucson Gem Show.

Driving along the frontage road near Downtown is reduced to 25 mph because of the pedestrian traffic and congested vehicles due to the construction.

Just thought I'd let you know
