Strahlen?
Perhaps you can say that the first people who were collecting minerals were the Swiss farmers called 'strahlers'... Going into the mountains was much more hazardous than it is now... no wetter forecasts, no maps, no warm clothing, no good ropes and other climbing equipment, not the knowledge on mountains we have these days... Those farmers had their cows and goats walking on the fields and their crops growing, and when they had time left they went into the mountains to find 'shiny crystals' (strahlende Kristalle). Wenn they found nice crystals they held them in the sun and they would reflect the sunlight so beautiful, the crystals were 'strahlend'... They were of course doing that to earn a little more money... they sold their crystals to craftsmen for cutting them into jewelry, glasses, ornaments etc.
We are proud to be collecting minerals with the same respect and love for nature as they were...
We are lucky these days to be able to look for crystals for a hobby; we do not have to make money with our hobby
We try to find peace in collecting minerals in the fresh air of the nature around us, with good friends around us
away from the stress and the restrictions of the allday-working-life, freedom, back to basics...
