(text and pictures by Auke Bleeker)
A Permian sandstone and conglomerates quarry system which is going from Rammelsbach the Northern part to almost Theisbergstegen the South-Southwest part of the system. There are two quarries active in this area with rich Dolomite and Calcite veins throughout the whole quarry system.
It is possible to find big Calcite xx up to 8o mm in groups in also big cavities.
Several times we came out that quarries with cavity blocks of about 75 kg.
As tools you need absolutely a 3 and 1 kg hammer and some razorblade sharp and thin chisels, the shorter the better.
What you can find are the following minerals:
Baryate, Calcite, Chalcopyrite, Dolomite, Goethite, Hemathite, Malachite and some others.
