Marble quarries at Vila Vicosa, Estremoz, Alentejo, Portugal.

and in 2004...

There are some similarities between Vila Vicosa and the famous Carrara, Italy region:
-there are a lot of marble quarries here...
-they keep the large blocks of marble without cracks and holes for themselves,
-and throw the rest on dumps !

That's where you can find nice waterclear Quartz-xls with Adular-xls, Dolomit-xls etc in the holes, just like at Carrara.
Only... We did not know that. Any of you? Is there literature on this? Are there other collectors who have searched here?
Have they found sulfides&sulphosalts here?

O yeah... We've been told that Italy buys more marble from here, than they get from their own quarries in Carrara...
