The MolÚr Museum is situated at the Skarrehagevej 8, Hesselbjerg, Nyk°bing on Mors island in the Limfjord. The museum accomodates the largest selection in Denmark of fossils from the MolÚr deposites. The exhibition tells the exciting story of the MolÚr geology, its plant and animal life, of MolÚr as a raw material and of Man and MolÚr.

The Museum is devided into three parts. In the front of the building there is a cafe and a small shop where you can buy fossils, minerals, picture postcards, etc. The back of the building is devided into two exhibition rooms, one with the permanent "MolÚr"exhibition and in the second one there was an exhibition of Fossilezed and/or Petrified wood.

The permanent collection contains a lot of beautiful fossils, but also contains minerals and petrified wood. One of the top mineralpieces on display, is the almost one metres long arm of the famous "Lynghojkrystallen". At this moment one of the top fossispieces, is the print of a turtle, which was recently found in a nearby quarry. Outside the museum, there is an exhibition of rocks and stones.

Tickets for grownups cost DK50,- and your ticket lasts for 2 weeks. Besides the museum, you can also visit an old quarry, where it is allowed to search for fossils (tools can be hired in the museum) and there is a geological/nature route. Me and my family visited the museum on the 4th of June 2009.
