A few years ago we visited the Dolores prospect near Pastrana/Mazarron. Now the Ramonete prospect. There is one other locality in this area to visit, the La Atalaya prospect. All three have almost the same mineralogy.

Here we were able to find nice MM's of Lavendulan! The color of Lavendulan is a kind of blue I have not seen before in minerals... like fluorescent blue, bluer than blue, more blue than blue, something like that. From 1 meter distance you can see a 0,5 mm spot of Lavendulan :-) But we also found max. 1 mm small Quarz-xls, usually covered by small darkbrown translucent Jarosit-xx. On the Jarosit there were yellowbrown Chenevixit-xx (at least we think so ;-) With the Lavendulan sometimes there also were olivegreen platy prismatic Olivenit-xx; very typical formed. Black crusts and balls on which the Lavendulan is formed is probably Heterogenit. Reddish brown globules we found might very well be Yukonit (compare pictures in minrec-2003). On that we found one piece with submillimetric lightbrown oktaedric Chlorargyrit-xls! On the dumps Konichalcit-xx are abundant, but we did not see where it came from in the rock-wall... With the Lavendulan were also very small lightgreen shiny Cornwallit-xx.

The rock is a very hard blackbrown jasperoid rock. The minerals form in very small cavities and fissures.
